Highschool Games

Man, they must think we're stupid. I feel like I can't stand any more, no more promises and rationalizations, no more mistruths and assertions of superiority.
I can't stand the unrelenting POW stories or diatribes about how hard it was growing up without a father. Everyone's life is hard, so get over yourselves and realize a hard life isn't a qualification to rule the country.
I can't stand the grim campaign commercials that flash attacks across the screen while men with gravelly voices, twist the facts and slip their poison into our ears.
I can't stand the sexism and ageism and racism that supposedly everyone cares so much about. I can't stand watching PC pundits dance around these subjects, and campaigns and candidates use them as cheap weapons, while the people at home wallow in front of their TVs with their private prejudices to keep them company.
Oh, and remember you Talking Heads of cable news; remember to follow the red or the blue. Forget about the facts and truth; instead recite the lines that they handed you, from dark back rooms where elections are decided.
As for the public its time to go vote, to draw in a check next to the face you like most. Red vs. Blue, R vs. D, white vs. black, jocks vs. nerds, right down the center, its one side or the other, choose the clique that you think is more popular.
It’s disturbing to watch our leaders play at these old high school games. Give me a candidate who doesn't mind admitting he's wrong. Give me a candidate who is short on promises, but wealthy with truth. Give me a candidate who embraces his failures as learning experiences. Give me a President who makes me proud to be American.
